If we say that God is the same yesterday, today and forever… how then can we say that God is using only one way to speak to His people. Amen God speaks through His Word but God still speaks in an audible voice and He still uses people to speak to individuals. Granted there are no longer prophets, for there is no new revelation, it has all been revealed in God’s Word. But someone being used by God can still prophesy.
I’m digging the cartoons – this one left me hanging.

All of God’s universal communication to humanity now, is based on his Scriptures. What I mean is that the personal leading of the Spirit, those inner promptings, convicting messages from fellow Christians and so on, are all rooted in a knowledge of Scripture. God now speaks through His Word. In preaching, this is an audible communication, but it is not new.

God is no longer giving us new information. It is all found in the Bible. The “faith that was once and for all given” is now in our possession. God works to deliver it to His people, but he is not saying anything different from what he has already said.
